Richard A. Galvin
Richard A. Galvin is the founder and President of Commonwealth Ventures, LLC (“CV” or the “Company”) which he founded in 2003. Before raising the Commonwealth Ventures Funds, CV located and organized investments in three real estate projects, including One Financial Plaza, the new GTECH headquarters building in Providence, Rhode Island, and The American Brewery Lofts in Boston. Prior to that, Mr.Galvin was a co-founder of NeXcomm Capital Partners (1999 to 2003), a leading owner and developer of technology/telecom real estate assets, including the Dallas Infomart, a 1.3 million square foot property in Dallas, Texas.
Formerly, Mr. Galvin enjoyed a 15-year career (1984 to 1999) with Trammell Crow Company, including eight years in Boston, where he was primarily responsible for a number of signature projects, including 745 Atlantic Avenue in downtown Boston; Metro West Business Park in Westboro, Massachusetts; Overlook Office Park in Westboro, Massachusetts; and Burlington Centre, in Burlington, Massachusetts. Burlington Centre is a 72-acre mixed-use project, consisting of 535,000 square feet of office space, and 125,000 square feet of residential, Located on Route 128.
Mr. Galvin received his BA in Economics from Brown University. He is the Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Wakeman Boys and Girls Club, is on the Board of the Providence Downtown Improvement District, and is a member of the Providence Foundation.
Sean E. DeGroat
Sean DeGroat is Chief Financial Officer of Commonwealth Ventures, LLC responsible for acquisitions and finance. Mr. DeGroat joined Commonwealth Ventures in July 2004. Prior to joining Commonwealth Ventures, Mr. DeGroat spent over 13 years working for Trammell Crow Company. From 1998 through 2001, Mr. DeGroat acted as Asset Manager, underwriting and serving on Trammell Crow’s Development and Investment Committee reviewing all new acquisition and development projects. In addition, Mr. DeGroat created a proprietary asset management system to track, monitor and manage development activity for Trammell Crow's Development & Investment Group. From 1988 to 1995, Mr. DeGroat was the Divisional Chief Financial Officer of Trammell Crow’s corporate services business. Mr. DeGroat received a B.S. in Finance from the University of Virginia.
Charles F. Leatherbee
Charles F. Leatherbee joined Commonwealth Ventures in the Spring of 2007 and serves as Vice President of Development. Prior to joining the company, Mr. Leatherbee enjoyed a seven-year tenure with Boston Properties. As a Senior Construction Manager at Boston Properties, Mr. Leatherbee managed the construction of roughly 1 million square feet of commercial space in the greater Boston area. Most recently, he was responsible for the construction of Seven Cambridge Center in Cambridge, MA; a 230,000 square foot build-to-suit laboratory and research facility for the Broad Institute. Additionally, Mr. Leatherbee worked to secure local approvals for a 24 story, 250,000 square foot residential high rise in Cambridge, MA. Mr. Leatherbee earned a BS in Engineering from Trinity College in 1998 and a Master’s of Science in Real Estate Development from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2004.
